• Xmas presents — still not wrapped, and in fact, I have no idea what to get my brother

Meanwhile, the in-laws just dropped off a packet of Lim Chee Guan bak kwa (barbecued pork), a gesture which in our household traditionally signals the start of the run-up to the Chinese New Year. So the festive vibes in our apartment, sorry, in local parlance, flat, are a little mixed up right now.
