Morning Jog
Deciding to continue my morning jogs which I started while on vacation, at around 8am I headed off to ECP (East Coast Park). A convenient 10min walk from my place. It was a pleasant experience with the occasional roller blader or cyclist passing by and a few moms walking with their kids in strollers. At the same time it was draining since the weather is very still and humid out here, so it was a slightly different jogging experience from the one back home. I also happen to have a complaint, they don’t any markers showing the distances, or may be they do and I was not looking at the right place, anyone? Anyways I just timed myself and at the end of it sat at the beach for a while and took in the view. You cannot imagine how tempted I was to just kick off my shoes and go for a swim.

They have markers every 0.5km. You have to know where to look, as they’re just these brown stumps very low on the ground and easy to run by without seeing.
I know where most of the markers are in the middle stretch, but it’s hard to describe their locations. Let’s see:
- 1 at McDonald’s (along the jogging path)
- 1 0.5km east of that, just outside the toilets/drinks shop that’s near the overhead pedestrian bridge
- 1 0.5km east of that, just outside another of those toilet buildings
- 1 0.5km east of that, at the end of the chalets, before you hit the seafood centre.
Between the seafood centre and the lagoon hawker centre, around the old lagoon, there are no markers. The markers pick up again just after Bedok Jetty (heading east).
To the west of McDonald’s, there are 0.5km markers too, all the way up to Big Splash and beyond. But I’m not sure where the markers end, as the furthest I used to run was up to the marker after Big Splash.
Thanks for that :)
Seems like I was running in the area where they don’t have the markers, started at Bedok Jetty heading West, may be i’ll go the other direction next time.
From Bedok Jetty heading east, there are 0.5km markers up to the sailing centre. After that, the jogging/cycling path continues to Changi Coast Road, but there are no markers (unless they put some in recently). IIRC, the distance between Bedok Jetty and the end of the path at Changi Coast Road is about 2.5-3km in each direction.
I admire your ability to go for a run first thing in the morning. I tend to run in the evenings — which means that of late, with the rain and the festive season, I haven’t run in over a month!
