Bright lights, small city
It came to my realisation last night that we’re a pretty brightly lit city. I’m not too sure about the government’s stand towards the amout of light per area (if there even is one), but you can be sure that there is almost a street light at every corner (and for a little bit of triva, 8 street lights roughly equals to a 10 cent increment on a taxi meter… heh heh ), and other miscellaneous lights from various sources. As I was trying to get some sleep, I was constantly bothered by the car lights of the neighbour returning home, as well as lights coming from the overnight construction from the neighbouring estate. Yes, they work through the night so that things may be completed when no one is around. Because of this, it’s really rare to find a street which is dimly lit around here. More likely than not, I think it would be due to the fact that we’re already small in geographical area, which basically just makes the housing estates closer to one another, unlike say, the States, where certain cities are so large that you get lots of land for housing. As a result the proximity away from one another, as well as distance away from the cities, gives the notion that those areas are not brightly lit at night.
Over here, turn your head and you’ll probably see the light coming from your neighbour’s toilet.

That’s why it’s hard to see the night sky too — too much interference from the city lights.
