Is there air pollution in Singapore?
I’ll let you decide for yourself.
It is well known that Singapore has done a great job in pollution control and implementing strict standards in controlling air pollution but sometimes one wonders if it’s totally eradicated when you see images like this. Check out the hazy smog that gets trapped near the ground before the noon sun comes out to dissipate it. This totally reminds me of how Bangkok is like when you view it from the tallest building, perpetually living under a cover of smog.
Anybody care to guess where in Singapore this is?
Jurong, tuas that side ?
Yeah, I second that. Looks like Jurong Island to me.
Do you have a higher resolution version of the first shot? I’d love to have that as my wallpaper.
ding ding ding! think we have a winner. well if im not wrong, it’s jurong island :) sadly i live nearby and this morning i distinctly saw a cloud of haze surrounding my estate from my kitchen window. PSI is superbly high in the west compared to other parts of sg. 2nd would be the northern areas.
Surely not all kinds of gases that are released are harmful.
From what i understand, unless it’s water vapour or oxygen, otherwise it is all harmful not of benefit to human beings :)
Very nice pics :) Yup, they do show the gaseous byproducts of the petrochemical industry based on JI (There is a reason why they were zoned there too). And yeah, it does look a lot like what we saw on Baiyoke Tower!
Also, could you please e-mail me when you get this message? I need to ask you something :) Thanks!
